Healthy Living

“To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one’s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one’s own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him”

-Buddah

Healthy living is not solely dependent on what you put in your body. It is a compilation of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Each component plays a major role in our everyday lives and us feeling good.

    • Physical– Now don’t get me wrong, ya girl likes a good doughnut with sprinkles every now and then, but I am very aware that what I put in my body affects my mood and how I approach the day. When in doubt…go clear! Water is such a HUGE factor in the way we feel. Increasing your water intake and decreasing the amount of sugar and processed foods we consume, relieves fatigue, boosts your immune system, and even improves your skin, and baby lets be honest, when you look good you feel good. Exercise is also a way to good physical health. Now I would be a hypocrite if I said I ran 5 miles a day… lies, but I do attempt to stay active. Exercise does not have to be daunting. Go walk your dog, run to the mailbox, take a walk to the store. Whatever you do, just get your blood flowing and have fun doing it. Physical health is not about weight at all!!! It is about treating your body like the temple it is.♥
    • Mental Your mindset is the amino acid to your protein. i.e. it facilitates EVERYTHING you do in life. The way you think is the way you live. So if you believe in success, you will be successful, and if you believe that you are poor, you are going to continue to struggle. Open your mind to the belief of endless possibilities and hope. Release the negativity when necessary. You can do this through a series of ways, talking to someone close to you, writing down your thoughts, or through prayer. In any matter, approach life with a positive outlook and know that in every negative situation, whether we are aware or not, there is a positive outcome or message.
    • Emotional One can become so consumed in their emotions, that they begin to lose sight of reality. We cry. We laugh. We love. We become angry….big deal!!! It’s the story of life. Well it is a big deal. Emotion is often intertwined with mood and is the catalyst of….yup…your mindset! In times of dismay, you have to ask yourself, are the emotions I am experiencing pertinent to the situation at hand? If your answer is no…simply let it go. I know easier said than done. However, these are skills that we develop over time through practice and constant implementation.
    • Spiritual- I am not here to throw religion on you or to try to convince you, you are living in sin if you do not believe in Jesus Christ. I am here to focus on reformation and a connection to something bigger than ourselves. We were placed on earth with a purpose. What that purpose is…well….most do not know. This is the time to follow your passions and begin to love life. Take in a deep breath of air and close your eyes. Listen to the sounds around you. What do you feel? Reconnect with the energy  in the environment and the people in our lives.
